Nutella Cake!

Before I say any more- Anna, this cake was not made today! =]
But it'll definitely be made again in the future...

Unfortunately this is the only photo I had of this cake, but I think that's really all you need to be enticed... I acquired the recipe from a good friend of mine, and am very glad I did as it really is extremely chocolatey and delicious. A favorite for sure, and you can't get more chocolatey than that!

Ingredients:

6 eggs, separated
125g butter, softened
400g nutella
1 tbsp rum
100g ground almonds
100g good quality chocolate, melted
whole or chopped hazelnuts, for decoration

for the frosting:

125g double cream
1 tbsp rum
125g good quality chocolate

Method:

Preheat oven to 180 C/ 350 F.

Whisk the egg whites and a pinch of salt until soft peaks form.

Beat the butter, nutella, rum, egg yolks and almonds together well.

Fold in the melted chocolate and the egg whites.

Bake for approx. 40 minutes.

For the frosting, melt the chocolate and then add in the rum and cream, whisking continuously until you get a silky consistency. Frost the cake while it is still slightly warm with a palette knife.

Place whole or chopped hazelnuts on top of the cake for decoration, if you wish.

Best eaten on it's own, warm, or with a dollop of whipped cream.

Nehal C- I mean ml, I write grams out of habit, but I'm pretty sure there's little to no difference between the two... That's a brilliant idea, I'm sure they'll love it! =]
